There are two two main activities to round off this block of the course:&nbsp;<strong>creating a<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>cyberculture<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>visual artefact<\/strong>&nbsp;and then&nbsp;<strong>writing a catalogue entry<\/strong>&nbsp;reflecting upon the content of your gallery space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Details of the visual artefact can be found within the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.21edc.education.ed.ac.uk\/wp\/working-visually\/\">Working visually page<\/a>, however the main point is that this needs to be an entirely image-based piece (no words please, either spoken or written) that directly relates to an aspect of our course reading or one of the themes from this block. And the exercise is not simply about producing a visual artefact, but also interpreting those produced by other members of the group, maybe drawing on the Rose (2011) to help you do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructions for the catalogue entry can be found in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.21edc.education.ed.ac.uk\/wp\/exhibition\/\">Online exhibition page<\/a>. In short summary, this needs to connect the different artefacts in your gallery with relevant ideas from the literature: <strong>the emphasis here is upon being critical rather than descriptive<\/strong>. This should ideally be a written piece and hosted somewhere online that you can link to from your gallery. If you are unsure where you might host your entry, you might want to put a question in the Museum Cafe area, or simply look at how other members of the group are approaching it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you find by the end of the week that your gallery area is feeling a bit untidy or too busy, don\u2019t worry: there will be a chance for further curation before it is marked at the end of the course. That said, if the opportunity arises this week, there\u2019s definitely no harm spending a bit of time thinking about whether the work is arranged in a way that will be clear to the visitor, which in Week 5 will be James and I strolling through the galleries and commenting on the work found therein. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking back for a moment, thanks for all your excellent work on the Cyberculture Film Festival. Despite a few glitches, it was an engaging and lively set of discussions on cyberculture as presented in film (and video). At the end of each screening James and I talked about taking a similar approach in other parts of the EDC course and indeed on the larger programme and we have already started to to give it some thought: a tutorial later this semester in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/hubs.mozilla.com\/\">Mozilla Hubs<\/a> gives some indication as to where we might be going with this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, you might be interested to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teaching-matters-blog.ed.ac.uk\/teaching-across-the-public-spaces-of-the-web\/\">read a post<\/a> that James contributed to the University\u2019s\u00a0<em>Teaching Matters<\/em>\u00a0blog earlier this year, where he talked about the EDC course: hopefully it matches up with what you have been experiencing over the last few weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking forward to seeing your visual work this week and engaging in the ongoing discussions on Miro.
