The EDC course is broken up into five sections, beginning with an Orientation week where we become familiar with our surroundings, followed by three thematic blocks (Cyberculture, Community culture, Algorithmic culture) and then concluding with a Composition fortnight where we will discuss and work on the digital essay. A short introduction will be added to the front page of this course site at the beginning of each week setting out what will be taking place, however most of the activities tend to work across a thematic block rather than a single week. We politely ask that you follow the schedule as set out below (rather than moving into new activities before time) in order that we move through the course as a group, but also so that as we can retain the flexibility to adapt later sections of the course as new ideas and approaches emerge in conversation and across our exhibition space.
Course blocks

Weeks 8, 9 and 10 – Algorithmic culture (thematic block 3)

Weeks 11 and 12 – Composition

Assessment deadlines
Your work on the exhibition should coincide with the three thematic blocks which run from Week 2 until Week 10, however you have a further week to refine your work before submitting by the deadline of midday on Monday 6 December (UK time). We would strongly encourage you to maintain your gallery spaces week-by-week so that by the end of Week 10 you are ready to move onto the digital essay. The digital essay must be submitted by midday (UK time) on Monday 13 December.
Synchronous sessions
The nature of our synchronous sessions (for instance where we will stream video or discuss particular online communities) means it is not always appropriate for them to be recorded and shared. Each session is therefore scheduled to take place at two different times in order to give you an opportunity to take part. You only need to attend to one of each of the following sessions (but are welcome to come along to both). Please note that these are presented as UK times.
