Week 11 – Applying the finishing touches to our exhibition

Broom in gallery

As the photo suggests, this week gives us all a bit of time to tidy up our gallery spaces before the exhibition is complete, at midday on Monday 6 December. Please don’t feel under pressure to find or create new content (unless your galleries are unattended): instead, approach this week as a bit of breathing space and a chance to cast a curatorial eye over your gallery spaces for the final time. Remember to look back to the guidance for this exercise, the specific assessment criteria, and also the mid-point audio feedback where James and I emphasised the importance of arranging work clearly, while making sure there is some explanatory context next to each artefact.

With our exhibition in a state of completion, attention will turn to the digital essay, which is due a few weeks from now at midday on midday on Monday 13 December. In fact, while making the final tweaks to your exhibition you can also be thinking about any themes or ideas that you might want to expand upon within the essay. Keep posting to the Miro gallery for the final assignment, encourage your classmates in their ideas, refine your own ideas, and repeat. James and I will be there as well with feedback. Do tag us (@ + name) if there is something specific you want to draw our attention to.

As we mentioned previously, we have industrial action planned for 1-3 December. We will be feeding into the galleries on and up to 30 November and then again beginning on 6 December. We won’t be holding the live sessions originally scheduled for 1 December.

Wishing you a pleasant week and all our best with the curation!

Michael and James
