Hello all.
Just a few quick points in this week’s introduction.
This is final week of the Algorithmic Culture block, therefore if you could take time to complete your algorithmic play exercise and to write your catalogue entry, that would be appreciated.
We have live sessions this week, if you want to join. Please do let us know which you want to join by filling out the Signup Form on the link above. Bear in mind they are repeats so no need to join more than one. We are going to be trying Mozilla Hubs for these sessions so it might be worthwhile giving it a look ahead of time. To join the room we have created, simply click this link. At least to begin with we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer, however in case you’re feeling more adventurous, Mozilla Hubs is designed to support smartphone, and also Google cardboard (or equivalent) and VR headsets (although we’re not assuming you have these technologies and certainly don’t need them to enjoy the full classroom experience). When you enter Mozilla Hubs you will be prompted to select a microphone and test your sound – please take a moment to do this as it gives us the option of using voice as well as text chat in our sessions. Depending on how many attend, we will split into two groups with James and I in one each.
We have also created a Miro board solely for the purpose of discussing the final assignment. This might seem some ways away, and indeed you should first focus on the algorithmic culture block, but having a think about it now is worthwhile. The assignment brief is here and the Miro gallery to discuss the assignment is here. Note that there is a template there to follow and please try and keep all questions on Miro (rather than say email) so everyone can benefit from the answer. We ask that if you have any questions, please do get those to us (on Miro by using @ and our names) by 9 December. I have invited everyone to the gallery (check your student email), but do let us know if you run into any issues.
Have a good week, everyone.
Michael and James
